Only 90 minutes outside of Toronto, Bobcaygeon was incorporated in 1876 and sits on three islands connected by bridges with Pigeon Lake on the east and Sturgeon Lake on the west. The town is located 119 km east of Toronto with both VIA train and bus connections.
Bobcaygeon is located on the Trent-Severn waterway and is part of the Kawartha Lakes District. If you love history, the first lock on the Trent-Severn waterway was built at Bobcaygeon in 1833 and is still actively used to this day. Its chief industry is tourism, particularly relating to fishing. The Bobcaygeon's Canada/U.S. Walleye Tournament has been happening here for over 35 years!
This picturesque little town has exciting shopping opportunities in small-town shops, friendly pubs, and plenty of restaurants. The closest towns are Lindsay and Fenelon Falls. Bobcaygeon has a medical clinic located on-site with the Ross Memorial Hospital located in Lindsay, serving the area. The Bobcaygeon Public School provides primary education with a Secondary School located in nearby Fenelon Falls. The Lakefield College School (private) is located in the area and is well known for its royal connection. Prince Andrew, Duke of York attended the school in the 1970’s. They offer both Day and Boarding students.
